Shina Abubakar Re-Elected As Osun NUJ Correspondents’ Chapel Chairman

The Osun State Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has re-elected Shina Abubakar as its chairman for another three-year term.
Abubakar secured victory in the keenly contested election held on Tuesday, defeating his opponent, Mr. Adeolu Adeyemo of the Nigerian Tribune, with 15 votes against Adeyemo’s 5.
Announcing the results, the chairman of the credentials committee, Timothy Agbor, declared Abubakar the winner, granting him a second term in office.
In his acceptance speech, Abubakar pledged to prioritise the welfare of members while ensuring the collective interest of the chapel remains paramount.
He called for unity among members, stressing that the election should not create division within the chapel.
“This election will not divide our union. It is our collective intelligence that drives this course,” he said.
He commended his opponent, Mr Adeolu Adeyemo, acknowledging his contributions to journalism over the years.
“My colleagues, let us collectively drive the success of this chapel. Let us write a good history for those coming behind us. For me, I will dedicate myself to the service of members,” Abubakar assured.
The newly elected executive members were subsequently sworn in by the Assistant General Secretary of Osun NUJ, Mayowa Fagbohungbe, who urged them to uphold the integrity of the union and lead with the fear of God.
Other members of the new executive include Ayobami Agboola as Vice Chairman, Deborah Oladejo as Secretary, Toba Adedeji as Assistant Secretary, and Sunday Oguntuyi as Financial Secretary.
