Suspected cultists clash, kill rival in Osun

One Quadri Agbefawo, has been murdered in Osogbo by some assailants believed to be members of a rival cult group.

Eyewitnesses near the scene of the incident said Agbefawo was killed by the assailants that accosted him around at Abaku Area of Osogbo around 2pm on Saturday.

It was learnt that the deceased was trailed to the area and was seized by the assailants who hit him with many dangerous weapons and left him soaked in blood before they fled the scene.
A roadside grocery seller, who simply wanted to be identified as Titilayo, during an interview with PUNCH Metro said, “We all fled as some boys carrying sticks, matchetes and charms attacked Agbefawo.

“He attempted to flee, but those that attacked him were many and they must have studied his movement well.

“He was left with serious injuries on his head. He bled to death on the spot. No one could go near him. I watched happenings from a hiding near the scene.”

A reliable security source, who pleaded anonymity, also told our correspondent that the deceased was on watchlist of the anti-cultism unit of Osun State Police Command of the Nigeria Police Force for killing two people.

When contacted on Sunday, spokesperson of the state command, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the incident.

In a text message to our correspondent, Opalola simple wrote, “It is true. It happened yesterday (Saturday).”
