Suspected ritualists kill 65-year-old woman in Osun
Osun Police Command on Tuesday said the corpse of a 65-year-old woman, identified as Tunmise Oluyemi, who was declared missing in Ilesa, has been found on her farm with one of her eyes plucked.
In a statement, Osun Police Spokesperson, SP Yemisi Opalola, explained that daughter of the deceased reported the discovery of her mother’s corpse to the police.
She said, “at about 1:00pm of August 1, 2022, one Dare Oluyemi of Odundun area, Ilesa, reported that her mother, one Oluyemi Tunmise aged about 65-year-old whom the family members have been searching for since July 30, 2022 was found dead on her farm at Fadahunsi area, Ilesa at about 11:30am with one of her eyes plucked out by yet to be identified assailants.
“The police had visited scene of the crime and had taken photographs”.
Opatola added that the complainant who reported the incident and other children of the deceased, however, refused to allow the police take the body of their mother to the mortuary or carryout further investigation.
She said they threatened to unleash violence and that they wished to bury the corpse.
