Take-It-Back Movement Protests In Osogbo, Dares Tinubu’s Govt Amid Rising Hunger

In a move against the prevailing economic hardship in Nigeria, members of the Take It Back (TIB) Movement staged a peaceful protest in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, on Monday, calling on Nigerians to rise above fear and speak out against the deteriorating state of the nation.
The TIB protesters were chanting protest slogans such as “Tinubu is a thief!” and “Èbí ò!”—a Yoruba phrase meaning “We are hungry!”—the protesters voiced their frustration over the deepening poverty, food inflation, and general economic decline under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The demonstrators, though few in number, began their procession from the Correspondents’ Chapel at Olaiya Junction. They marched through Orisumbare Market, drawing attention from passersby and traders, before returning to Olaiya where they dispersed peacefully.
While speaking during the protest, members of the group condemned what they described as the rising authoritarianism of the Tinubu-led All Progressives Congress (APC) government.
They decried the arrest and detention of citizens who dared to criticize government policies, describing such actions as a deliberate attempt to silence dissent.
“They want to instill fear in Nigerians, but we say no. We will not be cowed into silence while people are hungry, jobless, and hopeless.
“It’s time Nigerians found their voice and demanded better from those in power.”
The protest was closely monitored by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, who accompanied the protesters throughout the march to prevent any hijack by hoodlums or miscreants.
The TIB Movement, which has been vocal about governance failures over the years, says this protest is the beginning of a larger nationwide agitation if the government fails to address the economic crisis affecting millions of Nigerians.
As the protest ended, the group reiterated its call on Nigerians to resist suppression and continue to demand good governance and accountability.
