Three Feared Dead in Ekiti Banks Robbery, Videos Surface

Three people are feared to have been killed in armed robbery attacks on two new-generation banks in Ikere-Ekiti, Ekiti State on Wednesday evening.

Sources, who said the armed robbers struck at about 4.30 p.m said that they blew the doors of the banks with dynamite and escaped with an undisclosed amount of money.

A source, who said that he sighted a blood-soaked, lifeless body around the gate of one of the banks, said that he learnt that two others were killed by the robbers in another location in the town.

The source said, “I can confirm the killing of a man at one of the banks. He was shot in the head. The lifeless body was there until police arrived the scene and people dispersed. I heard that two others were shot dead at another place.

Another source, who said that the robbers used a motorcycle and a black car for the operation at the two banks while people ran for their safety, added, “Even, we learned that their explosives hit a mini van and damaged the vehicle along the road.

A community leader, who preferred anonymity, condemned the attack on the two banks and the accompanying needless killing, describing it as unfortunate, especially that the armed robbers carried out the operations for several minutes unhindered and escaped.

Efforts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer, Ekiti State Command, Sunday Abutu, to get his reaction were not successful.
