VIDEO: Bodies Of Children Killed During Air Strikes ‘Being Stored In Gaza Ice Cream Vans

Palestinian civilians have been using ice cream trucks to store the bodies of little children who were killed in Israeli air strikes on the Gaza Strip.

Footage widely shared on social media shows one of the vans outside Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in the city of Deir Al-Balah, which covers the central governorate of Gaza.

A person talking to the camera, possibly a medical professional, says the hospital’s morgues are too small and narrow – and cannot accommodate the huge number of people killed in the conflict.

Speaking in Arabic, he said the hospital administration was forced to bring food refrigerators from Al-Awda factories, as well as food factories, to store the bodies of the deceased, mainly children whose identity is not known as their parents have died as well.

In the video, the man warned: The hospital’s morgues collapsed. The old equipment was insufficient and of poor quality, so the hospital was forced to bring in extra-cold refrigerators in order to store the bodies in them.

After opening some of the truck’s doors to show bodies wrapped in white blankets inside, the man called for help, saying the situation in Gaza is “miserable” and the hospital administration is “in a state of collapse”. He explained: “Health services, corpse preservation services and mortuary services are all weak. The hospital needs support and aid.

In a message shared with CNN on Saturday, Yasser Khatab, a forensic pathologist in al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, said some bodies remain stored for days before being collected. He stressed Gaza needs “relief aids” including “coffins and equipment to deal with dead bodies.
