UNIOSUN gets additional 29 courses approval from NUC

• Announces 2022/2023 academic activities resumption

The Osun State University Vice-Chancellor, Professor Odunayo Clement Adebooye, Tuesday revealed that the National University Commission (NUC) has granted approval of 29 new courses to the institution.

He made this known while addressing journalists at the Osun State University Main Campus, in Osogbo, the Osun state capital.

Adebooye stated that the university received approval to commence 18 undergraduate programmes and 11 postgraduate programmes, noting that admission processes for these news course had already begin.

He said “the University received twenty-four panels of accreditors from the National Universities Commission just in September 2022 to assess our physical facilities, personnel and all associated resources in readiness for the take-off of 29 new academic programmes.

“I am happy to announce that last week, we got response from the NUC that all the new academic programmes have been approved for take-off in 2022/23 academic session. These comprise eighteen (18) undergraduate and 11 postgraduate programmes, with the implication that the University should commence the process of admission into the programmes immediately”.

The Vice-Chancellor added that with the approval, the number of courses offered by Osun State University has increased to 84.

 

“With this approval, the University’s undergraduate academic programmes are now 84 thus rubbing shoulders and competing with long-established Federal universities in the country”, he said.

The undergraduate academic programmes includes; B.Sc. Cyber Security; B.Sc. Software Engineering; B.Sc. Information Technology; BSc. Information Science; B.Sc. International Relations and Diplomacy; BLIS. Library and Information Science; B.Sc. (Ed) Business Education; B.Sc. (Ed) Environmental Education; B.Ed. Adult Education;
B.Sc. Cooperative and Rural Development.

others are B.Sc. Public Administration; B.Sc. Psychology; B.Sc. Demography and Social Statistics; B.Sc. Social Works; B.Sc. Science Laboratory Technology; B.Sc. Biotechnology; B.Sc. Criminology and Security Studies; and B.Sc. Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution;

The postgraduate are M.Sc. & Ph.D. Geology; M.Sc. & Ph.D. Physiology; M.Sc. & Ph.D. Anatomy; M.Ed. & Ph.D. Guidance and Counselling; M.Ed. & Ph.D. Educational Management; M.Sc. & Ph.D. Sociology; M.Sc. & Ph.D. Entrepreneurship; M.Sc. & Ph.D. Wildlife Management; M.Eng. & Ph.D. Mechanical Engineering.

Meanwhile, Professor Adebooye also announced that academic activities for the 2022/2023 academic session will begin on Monday, 31st October, 2022 for old students while new students will resume on Monday, 7th November, 2022.

He said “The University has commenced the process for the admission of new students for the 2022/2023 academic session. The post-UTME screening application will close on Friday 28th October, 2022 and by 1st November, we shall be rolling out the lists of admitted candidates batch-by-batch.

“Therefore, I am glad to announce that the University will be commencing the 2022/2023 academic session on Monday, 31st October, 2022. As earlier approved by the University’s Senate, registration activities will commence for all returning students. Fresh and brand-new undergraduates will start resuming on November 7, 2022.

“For the newly approved 18 programmes, we implore prospective candidates to visit our website to process Post-UTME Screening. The portal will be closed on Friday October 28, 2022 at 12.00 GMT”.
