DSS steps up investigation with a view to arrest Emefiele

The Directorate of State Services (DSS) has intensified its inquiries in an effort to apprehend and prosecute Godwin Emefiele, the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), on charges of fraud and funding terrorism.

In an effort to prevent the CBN governor’s arrest, the military is allegedly supplying troops to guard him at home and at work. The defence headquarters has refuted this claim.

The secret police has resumed its investigations into a number of charges after an earlier unsuccessful effort to detain the head of the central bank was made. The goal is to detain the beleaguered Emefiele for potential prosecution.

An online platform, Premium Times, recently published some of the exclusive details it got from court documents on the controversy around the trail for Emefiele, among them funding “unknown gunmen” and members of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
