Osun Assembly Passes Two People-Centered Bill for Approval
The Osun State House of Assembly, 8th assembly under the leadership of Honorable Adewale Egbedun has today passed the Osun State Lotteries and Gaming (Establishment) Bill, 2024 and the Osun State Estate Agency Regulatory Authority (Establishment)Bill 2024.
The Osun State Lotteries and Gaming (Establishment) Bill, 2024 which is a Bill sponsored by the Speaker, Hon Adewale Egbedun aims to ensure that there are legal frameworks backing the operation of lotteries and gaming in the state.
During the plenary session, Hon. Lawrence Adeoti, Chairman of the House Committee on Lands, Physical Planning, and Urban Development, and Hon. Sanmi Areoye, Chairman of the House Committee on Commerce, Industry, Cooperatives, and Empowerment, presented comprehensive reports to the House on the Osun State Estate Agency Regulatory Authority Establishment Bill, 2024, and the Osun State Lotteries and Gaming (Establishment) Bill, 2024, respectively.
Recall that the Osun State Estate Agency Regulatory Authority Establishment Bill, 2024, had earlier had its public hearing on the bill and its passage will curb the excesses of House Agents and provide a legal framework for a working relationship between House owners, house agents and tenants.
However, the clean copies of both bills are meant to be forwarded to the Executive Governor of the State, Sen. Ademola Adeleke for his assent into law.
The plenary also featured reading of letter from the Executive Governor of the state, Governor Ademola Adeleke.
The letter contains a new bill, titled Osun State Drugs and Medical Supplies Establishment Bill, 2024 and the bill was read to the General Assembly for Consideration.
The bill is to ensure the Establishment of the Osun State Drugs and Medical Supplies Management Agency, which will facilitate the provision of high-quality and affordable health commodities in health centres across the state.
